Welcome To Wick Chapel

Known locally as ‘the chapel’, this United Reformed Church on the main A420 road from Bristol to Chippenham has been a vital part of the village of Wick since it opened in 1837, the year Queen Victoria came to the throne. In those days, no thought was given to parking, of course, but on a Sunday morning, anyone attending chapel is able to park in the Three Shires Surgery car park opposite the chapel. We are very grateful for this kind arrangement.

From the outside, the chapel is quite unassuming, somewhat grey and perhaps, for that reason, uninviting. Inside, however, it is bright and welcoming to anyone and everyone. You don’t need to be a Christian or a ‘churchgoer’ to be welcome here, and if you’re not sure quite what you believe, that doesn’t matter at all.

The entrance to the sanctuary and the schoolroom is level and therefore accessible to wheelchairs. There is an electric stairlift providing access to the toilets, but we are currently looking into installing an accessible toilet on the same level as the sanctuary. We now have Wifi in the chapel and are in the process of improving our audiovisual facilities – please bear with us while we work out how to go about this.
